Prediction, Team news, and Lineups for Real Valladolid’s Match Against Almeria

When they restart their campaign for the 2022-23 season on the road against Real Valladolid on Monday night, Almeria will be looking to win their second consecutive match in Spain’s top flight and make it two wins in a row.

The away team, who are now ranked 11th in the standings, will come into this encounter on the strength of a 2-1 win over Sevilla, while the home team, who are currently ranked 19th, suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Barcelona in their most recent match.

Real Valladolid vs Almeria Match Preview

Last weekend was difficult for Pacheta’s squad as they lost 4-0 to Barcelona at Camp Nou. The Catalan club has assembled a strong roster this summer. Robert Lewandowski scored twice for Barcelona.

The White and Violets opened the season with a 3-0 home loss to Villarreal, but they earned a point away against Sevilla on August 19. With only one point from three games, they are now in last place, although they have faced some extremely difficult competition so far.

Next up for Real Valladolid is a stretch of games against teams like Almeria, Girona, Cadiz, and Getafe, all of whom are contenders for relegation.

After finishing in 19th place in the 2020-21 La Liga season, Pucela were relegated to the Segunda Division for the 2021-22 campaign; however, they made an immediate return by finishing as the division’s runners-up.

When these two teams met in March 2014, Real Valladolid won 1-0 in La Liga, however, in the equivalent matchup in the 2014-15 Segunda Division season, the score was a 2-2 tie.

Almeria has started the season strong, losing by a single goal to reigning champions Real Madrid at home on August 14 and earning a point on the road against Elche in their second game.

Umar Sadiq scored the game-winning goal in Rubi’s team’s 2-1 victory against Sevilla in their last match, but the 25-year-old has since transferred to Real Sociedad.

Almeria, who is now in 11th place, is trying to create history by becoming the first team in Spain to win consecutive seasons at this level of football since 2015.

Last season, Rubi’s squad won the Segunda Division, however, they tied for second place with Real Valladolid on points (both clubs had 24 wins, 9 ties, and 9 losses).

With a better head-to-head record than the side that ended in second place, La Union has crowned champions once the season was concluded.

Team News: Real Valladolid & Almeria

Unfortunately for Real Valladolid, they will be without Shon Weissman once again as he continues to recover from a muscle injury. Gonzalo Plata and Sergio Asenjo are also questionable for this match.

However, the 30-year-old Jawad El Yamiq will return to the midst of the defense for the home side after serving a ban.

Toni Villa may start in the final third, but head coach Pacheta is unlikely to make sweeping changes to the team that played against Barcelona.

Ivan Martos and Juanjo Nieto will miss further time due to injury for Almeria, although Alex Centelles is back in action after serving his ban.

As a result of Sadiq’s departure, Leo Baptistao will be available to replace him in the defensive third of the field, where he might pair with Largie Ramazani in the starting XI.

Besides Sadiq, it’s expected that head coach Rubi will start the same eleven players from the match against Sevilla, with Kaiky returning to the back three.

Real Valladolid Possible Starting Lineup: Masip, L Perez, Sanchez, El Yamiq, Escudero, Aguado, Monchu, K Perez, Tuhami, Guardiola, Villa

Almeria Possible Starting Lineup: Martinez, Ely, Babic, Kaiky, Pozo, Robertone, Eguaras, Costa, Akieme, Baptistao, Ramazani

Prediction: Real Valladolid 1-1 Almeria

We anticipate a close game on Monday night due to the relative parity of the two squads. Even at this late point of the season, a loss for either would be devastating, but we predict a competitive encounter that ends in a tie.
